Larissa França

Larissa França

Brasil

Larissa is easily one of the most fiery competitors on tour. Do not be surprised to see her screaming praise, encouragement, and even criticism at her partner. Visor flinging may also occur. She is hands down, one of the best players in the world. Take notice as she is one of the few women on tour who prefer to primarily hand-set, sending perfect, gently floating balls for her partner to crush. Together with her partner, Talita, they are early favorites to take Gold in their home country of Brasil. Due to Brasil hosting the Olympics and having won the World Championship in 2015, their 2 Olympic spots were guaranteed. Having the most Olympic qualification points of any team in the world, Larissa and Talita were selected by their federation in late 2015 to represent Brasil in Rio. Many are expecting a Gold Medal matchup of Larissa/Talita vs. April Ross/Kerri Walsh-Jennings. She joined forces with Talita in 2014 after being away from the sport for almost 2 years. Since then they have won 12 Gold Medals together, easily proving they are the current best team on tour. With their Olympic Qualification completed, look for them to play less events in 2016, as they can afford to save the wear and tear on their bodies as they focus on their main goal, winning Gold in Rio.
