2015 was the year of the shoulder. Brooke Sweat, along with Kerri Walsh-Jennings and Whitney Pavlik, went under the knife last year to fix shoulder problems that could no longer be tolerated as an Olympic level athlete. She and her partner, Lauren Fendrick, are currently back on track and hold the second qualification spot for Team USA. Despite standing only 5′ 8″, she continues to be one of the best defensive players on tour. When you combine that with the excellent blocking of Lauren Fendrick, you have a team capable of shaking up podium positions. In 2014 they upset 5 teams that were seeded fifth or better during the FIVB season.
